Skin & Soft Tissue Surgeries

Skin and soft tissue surgeries are procedures to diagnose, treat, or remove abnormal, infected, or damaged tissue on the skin or subcutaneous layers.
Common Procedures
Excision of lesions, lipoma removal, abscess drainage, and skin grafting for burns or wounds. These, often minor or elective, surgeries commonly use local anesthesia.

Skin and Soft tissue lesions
Skin and soft tissue lesions range from common, benign growths (like cysts, lipomas, and skin tags) and malignancies (melanoma, sarcoma). They often present as lumps, rashes, or color changes. Accurate diagnosis depends on location, texture, and growth, often requiring imaging or biopsy.
Benign Soft Tissue Masses
Lipoma: A soft, fatty, movable lump under the skin.
Ganglion Cyst: A fluid-filled lump, often near joints or tendons.
Hemangioma: A benign vascular lesion made of blood vessels.
Epidermal Inclusion Cyst: A sac under the skin filled with keratin, often with a central punctum.
Soft Tissue Hematoma: Localized collection of blood, often following trauma.
Malignant/Pre-malignant Lesions:
Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC): The most common skin cancer, often appearing as a pearly papule.
Melanoma: A serious form of skin cancer arising from pigment cells.
Soft Tissue Sarcoma: Rare but aggressive malignancies originating in connective tissues.
Treatment of these lesions is done by Excision under local anesthesia and Histopathological examination.

Skin and Soft Tissue Infections
Skin and soft tissue infections (SSTIs) are bacterial, fungal, or viral infections affecting the skin, subcutaneous fat, or muscle, ranging from mild (impetigo, folliculitis) to severe/necrotizing (cellulitis, abscesses). Symptoms include redness, swelling, warmth, pain, and pus.
Treatments involve antibiotics, antifungals, and/or surgical drainage.
